A Riot In The Alps!

I am just back from a week’s skiing in Italy, where I go every year to see my folks who live in the Alps during the winter months. Most retired couples would abscond to warmer climes in winter if they could, but my parents don’t do anything by the book; preferring ear- muffs and Grappa to bikinis and Pina Colada.

My Alpine adventures are far from over yet this season, however. After last year’s phenomenal “Snowbombing” festival in Mayrhofen that I was lucky enough to play at, I have landed another high altitude gig at this year’s “Snowside” Festival in Nassfeld Austria. If you love your winter sports and underground music like me, check out www.snowside.co.uk and seriously blow away your winter blues with Gluwhein and mountain adventures alongside all your favourite cool djs and live bands such as Kissy Sell Out, CSS, Eddy Temple Morris, Vitalic and Metronomy. It runs from March 23 – 29th and I for one can’t wait.

So, my first gig of the year was at RIOT! @ The End in London. I arrived at 3pm expecting a somewhat subdued crowd, tinged with anticipation. What I actually got was a full on vibe with Alex Kidd on the decks at full pelt, up to his usual stage shenanigans. I went on after him and played a few carefully hand picked Riot! classics, that I hoped people would remember. It was vocal from the off, with a cheer for every new bassline that I dropped. My rehearsing had paid off. I got full on goosebumps with every riff and I was riotously reminded how much I love playing to that crowd. I had to leave pretty much straight after my set, (I had a flight to catch) practically in tears I was enjoying it so much; and as I passed Lisa Lashes on the stairs as she arrived and I left I was green with envy knowing the fun she was in for.

My brand new mix of classic Anne Savage track on Tidy - “Hellraiser” has been going down a storm including Radio 1 plays from Kutski, I haven’t given it to many dj’s yet, but I’ll be posting a link to a snippet next week so you can hear it. I did it especially for the forthcoming Tidy album “Love Tidy”-release date to be announced.

There has been a great response to the free giveaway CD’s, with lots of thank you emails, so thank you back, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It is nice to actually get a proper CD in a case rather that just a download, I think.
